How To Choose The Right Dog Collar

January 16th, 2012

Whenever you get a new dog, certain accessories are needed and very helpful. One such item is a dog collar. But how do you go about choosing and picking the right one.  Do you go with a training collar, personalized dog collars or right to the designer dog collars? To answer this question you have to determine why you even chose this dog.
All dogs need training, and they really do like it. But work dogs receive more intensive training specific to there job, than regular household dogs. The type of training will dictate what type of equipment you need to buy, course this is dictated by the job or work your dog will be doing. If you notice guide dogs for the blind, they use tough rigid harnesses; this is an example of a job specific collar. Another like agility dogs use AKC approved tug leashes. Now you see why its important to determine what type of collar or leash you need.

The Slip Chocker
The most popular collar used for training are slip collars otherwise known as choke collars. The way you use these collars are, a quick tug or tightening and a quick release. The quick tightening and sound this collar makes is what makes it work. The sound is very interrupting to the dog. The easy pressure provided also acts as a correction, if you used in a timely manner. Of course the dog should never experience choking. So be sure and put the collar on correctly to allow for quick release alright?
The Partial Slip Collars
These collars resemble the slip collar and are very similar. Snap and release is what this collar is all about. But the collar only tightens just enough. Its not a chain but a flat collar. If you have problems with the snap and release method of the Slip Collar then this collar is recommended for you.

Prong or Pincher collar
These collars are controversial in nature. Lot of people see these collars as abusive and inhumane. Its one thing in common with the slip collar is the snap and release method. These collars are made to dig into the dogs neck and cause pain. It hurts the dog. Some trainers insist it mimics the mothers correcting bite. But I think this method is unneeded and quite unnecessary.

Electric Dog Collars
These are also known as shock collars. These collars give your dog a shock of electricity in a small voltage. However you set it determines the type of shock, can be automatic or a touch of a button. These collars are not near a hot topic as prong collars they still use pain as a method of training. Hunting dog trainers usually use these types of collars do to the range of the collar. But really most people will not ever really need to use these collars.

Safety Issues
Really doesn’t matter what type of collar you use to train with. The most important issue of course is safety. When you go to buy a collar be sure you are aware of the correct techniques and methods used involving that collar. Also be sure and check the product you are buying is of good material and in correct working order. Really want to make sure your collars are of a high quality.

Different Types of Cellular Accessories

January 3rd, 2012

A lot of people wear clothes and dont care what they look like. They believe its only a way to cover them up and thats all they care about. Other people will only wear what looks good on them; its a fashion statement and a statement on their personality. The same goes for cellular accessories; some people will buy a phone and not care what it looks like. While others like to dress it up with skinz, cases, armbands, headsets, faceplates and every other kind of thing you can think of. Really you could have a group of 15 people with the same phone and each one can balance out the ordinariness of the phone and make it look like 15 different phones. I think its pretty cool, and so do the other millions of users who buy these cellphone accessories at their favorite cell phone accessory store! Some of the cellphone accessories that are fashion conscientious, but also functional can be found below:

- Cellular Faceplate: These faceplates come in all kinds of colors, shapes and sizes for your specific cell phone including Sanyo, Motorola, Blackberry & Nokia. These faceplates are most likely going to be snap on options and as the name says, it will cover the face or front of your cellphone. This is one of the easier and cheaper ways to change the look and feel of your phone without having to spend a ton of money. Among colors, you can also find various prints and patterns as well.

- Silicon Skin Case: This is somewhat like a faceplate, but this is more of a case in the fact that you put your entire phone into it. And since its rtv silicone, it has somewhat of a soft or rubbery feel to it. These also come in all kinds of colors, shapes and sizes as well for your specific cellphone. Plus this is constructed from streamlined, treated rtv silicone that resists dirt & discolorations. Extraordinary design provides easy access to all push buttons, controls & ports without having to remove the skin.

- Cellular Hands free: These are hands free boom mics and headsets that are quite literally hands free. Some of these products answer, dial and hang up through use of voice commands. While others are completely Bluetooth no wires needed and you can use them for any phones on the market. Some of these are quite luxurious, while others have just the main functions. Whichever one you choose is going to depend on what price you want and what functions you want!

- Leather Cellular Case: Like the silicon case and snap on cases, these are used to protect your phone from scratches and scuffs. Its also a brilliant way to keep track of your cell phone in your pocket, snapped on to your belt loop, or in a purse or bag. These also are going to come in all kinds of materials, colors and options as well and can be used to fit with your particular cellphone.

There are also side options as well such as Skinz which is ultimately a thin piece of sticker material that is going to go over your entire phone. I have a few friends that have bought these and they absolutely love them you can also customize your own as well. Another BIG option is to customize your own case with gemstones, and patterns. This is really like bedazzling your own case. Some of these are quite odd, but in the end it doesnt really matter what I think or what anyone else thinks. The cellphone is yours! Choose to have fun with it in whatever way you choose to!
